Abstract:

In the cognitive internet of things (IoT) network, the trade-off between spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE) attract much attention in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted communication system. In UAV communication network, short packet transmission is studied under the requirement of low latency and ultra-reliable. Compared with traditional cognitive networks, the communication based on short packet communication (SPC) has the packet error rate that cannot be ignored. By researching the effects of packet error rate, sensing time and transmission power on EE and SE, it is proved that the maximum value of SE and EE with respect to sensing time and transmission power cannot be obtained simultaneously. Then, an efficient combination optimization algorithm is proposed to maximize the trade-off between SE and EE. Numerical and simulation results show that the correctness of the theoretical analysis, and verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Key words: unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), cognitive, short packet communication (SPC), spectrum efficiency (SE), energy efficiency (EE)
