Abstract: In order to develop reusable and extendible discrete-event simulation systems,a new modeling and simulation approach,UML-ARENA,is proposed. In this approach,a system is modeled with the unified modeling language(UML) and simulated in the discrete-event simulation platform ARENA.The design procedure of UML-ARENA is composed of two steps: modeling and simulation.Firstly, through a conception analysis of the system, the functional model and dynamic model are designed by UML.Both the two kinds of models are transformed into an object model by objective model translation rules. Then,ARENA models are obtained by object modeling transforming according to ARENA mapping rules. Finally the UML-ARENA method is verified through the simulation example of a flight supporting process.
