Abstract: Aiming at the original rough set theory is limited in some application domains because of basing on the equivalent relation, binary relations and its inverse relations are studied, and ambiguous objects are defined by the concept of the similarity relation. Then, both the lower and the upper approximation operation generated by a similarity relation and its inverse relation are constructed. In this way,the idea of vagueness is explained exactly from a rough set perspective. These new definitions are applied to construct the similarity relations in a decision table. An example demonstrates the application of the method.
