形状描述法在图像检索中的应用综述

Review on shape representation techniques and their applications in image retrieval

摘要: 基于内容的图像检索是根据用户提供的参考图像,自动从图像数据库中搜索相似图像的一门新技术。形状作为图像的核心内容之一,结合图像理解领域的形状描述技术,已经派生出许多基于形状的图像检索算法。与现有的轮廓/区域分类准则不同,从描述形状的不同特征入手,针对图像检索技术研究中最新提出的形状表示算法首先作一个分类。然后根据MPEG-7准则,对各类形状描述方法的整体性能给出比较。最后结合基于图像内容的检索技术的发展现状和趋势,给出形状表示方法的综合评述和发展方向。

Abstract: Given a query image,the content-based image retrieval is a new technique that automatically searches the similar images.Shape is one of the key contents of an image.Combined with the shape recognition and image understanding theory,various shape based image retrieval algorithms can be found in the literature.This paper reviews the latest developed image retrieval approaches from the shape representation point of view.Different from the traditional contour/region rule,the authors firstly classify these algorithms according to the features.Then each method is briefly described and the overall performance is also given according to the MPEG-7 principles.Finally conclusions and the future work are presented.
