Abstract:

In collaborative tasks involving human/unmanned aerial vehicles, the increasing complexity of information can lead to commander’s cognitive overload during prolonged task execution. To investigate the impact of collaborative tasks under different conditions on commander’s physiological responses, behavioral reactions are compared between different workload conditions. Event-related potential technology is employed to study electroencephalographic signals under both conditions. The results reveal that, participants exhibit longer reaction time and lower accuracy under high workload conditions, accompanied by significant increase in P200 and P300 amplitudes. During human/unmanned aerial vehicle collaborative tasks, compared to low workload tasks, the high workload state demands cognitive resources that exceed the commander’s cognitive capacity, leading to cognitive overload and requiring additional attention and cognitive resources.

Key words: human/unmanned aerial vehicle collaboration, workload, event-related potential, P200, P300
