Abstract:

This paper focuses on the problem of the amplitude-comparison angle measurement of the monopulse in the scene of noncoherent dual sources. The paper describes the general model of the amplitude-comparison angle measurement under dual sources. On this basis, the analytical expression of the estimated angle is derived, and the three typical cases are obtained under three classical and restriction conditions. Furthermore, amplitude-comparison angle measurement error, the theoretical errors of the estimated angle caused by the signals’ power ratio and the signals’ angles are given. Finally, the numerical simulations are provided to analyze the influences and releated error of the signals’ power ratio and the signals’ angles to the estimated angle. The results illuminate that the mean value of angle measurement between the angles of the dual sources and the validity of the derived expressions are also proved. This paper will improve the theory of the amplitude-comparison angle measurement and can also provide a consultation to the performance analyses of amplitude-comparison angle measurement under noncoherent dual sources and some scheme optimizations for the angle measurement system.

Key words: monopulse radar, noncoherent dual source, amplitude-comparison angle measurement, theoretical performance analysis
