Abstract:

To analytically describe and calculate the situation awareness of certain operator is an important but still unresolved issue in research of situation awareness. On the basis of the Endsley’s situation awareness model, we quantitatively define the number of the flowing information packages, time cost, information processing rate and valid time of the information in the situation awareness process. In addition, we conclude five hypotheses about the principles of the information process based on practical experience, and a mathematical model to analytically measure situation awareness of operators is established according to the hypotheses. Validity of our model is verified by case study.
