Abstract:

The target detection strategy of tracking radar is applied to the data processing of the searching radar to improve the detection and tracking capability of small dim targets in the incoherent radar images within complex lowaltitude airspace. Firstly, according to the temporal features of the tracking targets’ life cycle, the threshold values in the optimal classification plane are modified in the neighborhood of the predicted positions to improve the detection sensitivity. Then, the optimal classification plane is further modified by taking advantage of the temporal features of clutters in radar image sequence, rejecting the remained clutter. Finally, the proposed algorithm is combined with the algorithm for clutter suppression with spatial features achieved in the previous research, and applied to the simulated data as well as the groundtruth data, with several criteria to evaluate the detection results. It is demonstrated that the proposed metho could decrease the false alarm rate in the premise of guaranteeing higher detection rate.
