Clutter properties and suppression method of hypersonic platform radar

Abstract:

Focusing on the poor clutter suppression performance of the conventional space-time adaptive processing (STAP) method caused by range migration and Doppler migration of clutter with hypersonic platform, this paper firstly constructs a bidimensional space-time model of clutter of hypersonic platform and analyzes the clutter properties, which show that the heterogeneous clutter distribution is severer and the Doppler spectrum of clutter is broadened further compared with that of the slow velocity platforms. Furthermore, the heterogeneous distribution and Doppler spread are related to the positions of scatters and the number of pulses. Finally, a clutter suppression method, which corrects the range migration of clutter by keystone transform and compensates the increment of clutter Doppler by compensation matrix, is proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed method can narrow the notch for clutter suppression and obviously improve the detection performance of moving targets in the main-lobe area.
