Abstract:

Radar altimeter is an important ocean microwave remote sensor. Using radar altimeter to observe the dynamic height of the sea surface is an effective means for global-scale ocean monitoring. In recent years, the radar altimeter has gradually developed from the real aperture mode to the synthetic aperture mode and from the Ku-band to the Ka-band. The accuracy and resolution of the observation have been significantly improved. This paper firstly studies the complete flow scheme of the data processing method of Ka-band synthetic aperture radar altimeter, including echo preprocessing, improved echo model, and echo re-tracking. Then, based on the first domestic Ka-band sea surface airborne experiment data, parameter retrieval is carried out and verified using the mean sea surface height model data. The data processing result proves the correctness of the data processing method in this paper.
