Abstract:

In the network function virtualization environment, for the problem of low resource utilization in the reliability research of service function chain (SFC)deployment, a reliability and topology aware SFC backup protection method is proposed. Firstly, a minimum-cost maximum-flow algorithm is used to deploy the virtual network functions of the SFC request on the server nodes with high reliability, so as to improve the reliability of the SFC as much as possible. Secondly, for the SFC which can not meet the reliability service requirements, redundant resources are reserved for the virtual network functions deployed on server nodes with low reliability to improve their reliability. Finally, redundant resource consumption can be minimized by redundant resources sharing. The simulation results show that the proposed method can improve the reliable deploying success ratio and resources utilization.

Key words: service function chain (SFC), reliability and topology aware, minimum-cost maximum-flow, backup protection
