Abstract:

In order to alleviate the contradiction between the performance and the volume and weight of the traditional real aperture microwave radiometer, and also to solve the problem that high spatial resolution is at the lost of systematic structure and signal processing complexity in the synthetic aperture microwave radiometer, a distributed microwave radiometer system is proposed based on the leaky wave antenna. First, the scheme about the system is introduced, including the leaky wave antenna and the receiver scheme. Second, the key specifications of the system such as angular resolution and system sensitivity are analyzed in detail, and the calibration scheme is also introduced. Finally, the system proposed is examined through modeling and simulation analysis. The results show that the system has a simple structure, a low complexity, and a simple signal processing, and the errors between the brightness temperature and the real brightness temperature prove to be very small through modeling and simulation analysis. In conclusion, the system has a potential to be developed as a new type of microwave radiometer system.
