Abstract:
One of the most important factors that affect the ranging range of a millimeter-wave radar is the fast fading of signals in the millimeter wave band. To increase the effective range of the millimeter-wave radar, which is based on the linear frequency modulation continuous wave (LFMCW) technique, a new ranging method is proposed by combining wavelet packet analysis with fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm. The implementation process is introduced, and the proposed method is also validated through multiple outdoor experiments with the use of a 24 GHz LFMCW radar system. Experiment results show that the ranging performance of the proposed method is better than that of the beatFouriertransform method for the remote target, and the proposed method expands the effective operating range from 1~30 m to 1~60 m.
