Abstract:

Most of direction finding algorithms for decoherence can only be applied to uniform linear array but cannot be used for uniform circular array(UCA). A fast direction of arrival(DOA) estimation method for decoherence based on virtual uniform linear array(ULA) is proposed to this problem, the mode excitation method is used to transform the UCA in element space into a virtual ULA in mode space, the algorithm is presented to cope with the coherent sources under a condition of the colored noise covariance matrix with Toeplitz structure, it employs a method combining spatial differencing and matrix restructure to eliminate the uncorrelated sources and colored noise. The number of signals resolved by this approach can exceed the number of array elements, moreover, it does not need to compute the higher order statistics and eigen decomposition. Computer simulation indicates that the method is effective.
