Abstract:

Compared with the conventional radar system, cognitive radar with flexible waveform generation is able to adaptively modify their performance to suit a variety of environments. The problem of adaptive waveform selection for target tracking in clutter environment is studied in the view point of cognitive radar. An adaptive waveform selection algorithm based on the modified probabilistic data association algorithm (MPDA) is presented. The method uses MPDA to establish and update the trajectory of targets and adopts the modified Riccati equation as the prediction function, by means of which the waveform selection criterion function is derived. Simulation indicates that this algorithm greatly improves the tracking performance compared with the PDA and MPDA with fixed transmitted waveforms in heavy clutter environment.
