Abstract:

To increase the effective attack range of the short/medium range airtoair missile, a parabolatrajectory compound guidance law is studied. The guidance law uses the beforehand adding angle in the initial stage to increase the height of the trajectory. In the midcourse guidance, the optimal modified proportional navigation (PN) is taken for the correction of the velocity heading angle to satisfy the handover requirements between midcourse and terminal PN guidance. By the simulation of several representative trajectories, the guidance law is validated. It increases the missile’s attack range effectively and suits for the attack of maneuver targets. The guidance’s algorithm is simple and feasible, which can be used in the missile’s technical upgrade.
