Abstract: Signal structure is one of the decisive factors for satellite navigation systems and is one of the key technologies which must be resolved during system design and upgrading process. This paper studies design principles of the foreign advanced satellite navigation signal structure and summarizes the latest results of the GPS and Galileo signal structure design.By describing the evolution of satellite navigation signals, modern global navigation satellite systems(GNSS) signal design methods are introduced in six aspects including frequency structure design, code rate selection, signal waveform design, spreading code design, data rate selection and channel coding design.Based on these design concepts, the GNSS signal structure development direction is presented.
