Unambiguous velocity estimation of fast moving targets using #br# single-channel interferometric phase

Abstract:

To solve the radial velocity ambiguity problem of fast moving targets in the synthetic aperture radar/ground moving targets detection system, a method based on single-channel interferometric phase of two-look data is proposed to estimate the radial velocity unambiguously. The two-look data is constructed in the range frequency domain, and interferometry is processed to obtain the interferometric phase. The relationship between the interferometric phase and the slow time is used to estimate the radial velocity unambiguously, which possesses the advantage of being independent of phase wrapping. The application under clutter background and with multiple targets is analyzed, and the condition and the maximum unambiguous radial velocity are given. Simulated and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Compared with the amplitude-based single channel method, the proposed method possesses the advantages of higher precision and lower computation complexity.
