Abstract:

For the operating frequency bands of airborne early warning radars are continuously expanding towards lower frequency ranges, more wireless communication devices share the same frequency bands with radar systems, causing significant unintentional jamming to unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-borne radars during operation and severely affecting its target detection performance. To address these issues, a mainlobe unintentional jamming suppression architecture and method based on passive/active dual-mode coordination are proposed while keeping the parameters of the airborne radar system unchanged. Firstly, in passive mode, the frequency and bandwidth of each mainlobe jamming signal are estimated using adaptive beamforming techniques and constant false alarm rate detection criteria. Then, in active mode, the suppression of mainlobe unintentional jamming is achieved through frequency domain filtering. At the same time, the filtered color noise is whitened to white noise through noise compensation, which further improves the target detection performance while achieving jamming suppression. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through simulation experiments.
