Abstract:

Noise and signal transmission are key factors in radar design process, this paper presents a millimeter-wave radar system simulation model considering multi-source noise and signal transmission quality. The proposed model contains modules including frequency synthesizer, signal transceiver and signal processing, which can simulate the generation and transmission of signals to radar speed and distance measurement systems. On this basis, a noise model considering power supply noise, spurious noise and clutter noise is designed, which is capable of simulating and predicting radar missing alarm and false alarm. In terms of signal transmission, an equivalent circuit model is established, combined with the method of field-circuit collaborative to ensure the simulation accuracy. For a typical example, it is found that the clock signal has the problem of "hook back". This shows that the simulation model can predict the signal transmission quality of radar by detecting indicators such as "eye diagram" and signal waveform, and guide the design of transmission lines.
