Abstract:

There has been an increasing demand for high-resolution imaging in the near field, while traditional back-projection imaging algorithms ignore the adverse effects of the surrounding complex electromagnetic environment on imaging, and inevitably map the surrounding clutter onto the target image grid in the process of coherent accumulation of echoes, resulting in poor image quality. To address this problem, a backward projection imaging enhancement technique is proposed based on antenna directional map beam compensation. This technique can effectively suppress the adverse effects of strong scattering points on the imaging process in complex electromagnetic environments by generating an adaptive energy attenuation coefficient matrix in advance to compensate for the target echo amplitude. The measured and experimental results show that the proposed method not only enhances the image quality with the suppression of clutter, but also reduces the number of coherent accumulations during the imaging process, and improves the imaging efficiency.
