Abstract:

A method named TCA-MC-PM is proposed based on the tridimensional cross array which is designed for the reason that mutual coupling is difficult to deal with between subarrays in the conventional cross array. In this method, first, the ideal steering vectors of arrays constructed with some appropriate array elements which are chosen from both sub-arrays can be isolated with mutual coupling coefficients, and azimuths and elevations are calculated with the relationship between signal sub-space and the ideal steering vector; then, mutual coupling coefficients are estimated with sub-space and rank-reduction algorithms; last, azimuths and elevations are paired utilizing spatial spectral estimators. All the subspaces mentioned are constructed with propagation parameters, which can avoid eigendecomposing and can reduce computational effort. Simulation results confirm that the proposed method has little computation because of no search of spatial spectral and has high accuracy as it can restrain the influence of mutual coupling effectively.
