Abstract:

The target location could not be estimated in an aerial moving platform with a conventional passive location system. Based on time of arrival(TOA) and time difference of arrival(TDOA), a novel 3D target positioning scheme is provided, in which the position of an aerial moving platform can be located by using TOA information of three signals and geographic locations from three auxiliary stations and the target position can be located with the help of TDOAs from the target scattering echoes recorded by the aerial moving platform and three auxiliary stations. The reason why there is location ambiguity in the 3D TDOA location method is uncovered, and a high precision TDOA target positioning algorithm without location ambiguity is proposed. Compared with the classic TDOA location algorithm, the proposed algorithm can not only improve the location accuracy, but also eliminate the location ambiguity. The effectiveness and correctness of the passive 3D target location method of the aerial moving platform are validated by favorable performance of the simulation results.
