Abstract:

As a common integrated system architecture specification the department of defense architecture framework (DoDAF) has already gained the widespread acceptance in the world. However, the limitations of its descriptive form render it unable to support the analysis for the dynamic behaves of complex integrated systems. Therefore, an executable model is needed to fulfill the requirement of analysis and evaluation. Aiming at standardizing the process of the executable modeling and providing technical support for the automatic conversion between the descriptive products and executable models, a 5-stage modeling approach is developed to support the derivation of a hierarchical colored Petri net (HCPN) model that can reveal the logical and behavioral characteristics of the architecture form DoDAF operational products. Focusing on the activity model (OV-5), operational rules model (OV-6a) and logical data model (OV-7), the corresponding relation of the modeling language between DoDAF products and HCPN is explored, which is served as the basis of the modeling approach. An example of air defense (AD) system is given to illustrate the modeling process.
