Abstract:

According to the geometrical model of the type of TR bistatic sonar, a bistatic timebearinglocalization (BTBL) algorithm is proposed which fixes the position by the information of time and bearing. At the same time, the error of geometrical distribution is presented. Through numerical similation, some factors which influence the localization accuracy of the algorithm are studied, including baseline length, measuring errors of time and bearing. The results of simulation validate that the localization accuracy of areas at is better than that of areas nearby the transmitter. The sides of the source and the receiver is improved with the length of the baseline added, however, the location error in baseline extent increases. For the given baseline, the increased measuring errors of time and bearing will decrease the localization accuracy. Furthermore, arithmetic precision is relatively sensitive to the error of bearing measurement. The BTBL arithmetic of bistatic sonar has higher localization accuracy than that of the monostatic when the detected area is nearby the position of the receiver. The study provides a well theoretical evidence for the underwater localization of the type of the T-R bistatic system.
