Abstract:

Mission engineering (ME) has been proposed as an important approach to address the challenges in plan, analysis and design posed by complex mission, and has gained significant attention in the aerospace and defense sectors. Among the various artifacts in ME, mission threads (MTs) are considered one of the core components. This study proposes an MTs design method based on model-based systems engineering (MBSE) aimed at optimizing the design process of MTs. The proposed method begins by performing in-depth analysis of missions and tasks within a model-based environment, and then constructs modular task models based on the analysis results. These task models are subsequently integrated to form a complete MT. Case study results demonstrate that the proposed approach not only ensures the continuity of data and the consistency of knowledge in mission analysis and design but also significantly enhances models reuse, thereby improving engineers' understanding and control of missions and tasks.
