Maneuvering targets parameters estimation algorithm based on HHT in high-frequency radar

Abstract:

Aiming at maneuvering targets detection in complex clutter scenes of over-the-horizon radar, an estimating algorithm of maneuvering targets parameters based on Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) is proposed. Firstly, the algorithm decomposes the echo signal into the clutter and target components using complex empirical mode decomposition, and calculates their instantaneous frequencies and then obtains the HHT spectrum. Finally, target motion parameters are estimated by using linear match. This algorithm can estimate motion parameters of the muli-targets without the suppression of the clutters, which helps to simplify the motion compensation and detection process of multiple moving targets. Processing of the radar data shows that the algorithm can effectively estimate the velocity and the acceleration of the moving targets.
