Abstract:
As a main measure of beyond line-of-sight communication, satellite communication is crucial for the special aircraft with long distance tasks. Due to the specific structure of special aircraft, the satellite communication beam may suffer from fixed blockage by protuberances on top of the fuselage when the aircraft flies in certain airspace or in some specific attitude, causing continuous degradation of the link or even outage of communications. To solve this problem, based on the Fresnel zone theory of electromagnetic propagation, a blockage model and further a blockage analysis approach based on the projection theory and doublecoordinate system transformation are proposed. The proposed model and the analysis approach can accurately characterize the electromagnetic propagation loss, thus reference for the installation position selection of the satellite communication antenna arrays can be provided. In addition, the implementation complexity of the proposed approach is low, which makes it suitable for practical applications.
