Abstract:

The continuous wave (CW) radar has the phenomenon of transmitted signal leakage. The leakage of the transmitted signal sideband noise would drown the echo signal of targets and lower the receiver sensitivity. The traditional CW radar equation does not consider the effect on the performance of radar. By increasing the two parameters of the transmitter receiver isolation and the phase noise of the transmitted signal, the traditional CW radar equation is modified after analyzing its deficiency. The influence of transmitted signal leakage on the CW radar is reflected in this radar equation. This improved CW radar equation can be more realistic to describe the relationship between the range and the radar parameters and the target characteristics.
