Abstract:
The frequent and unnecessary handovers caused by the movement of user equipment (UE) between Macro Cell and Femto Cell will reduce the quality of service (QoS) of UE and network throughput. A load balancing aware handover algorithm in long term evolution (LTE) is proposed, which adaptively updates handover hysteresis margin according to the comprehensive load level of network. Furthermore, multiple parameters are comprehensively exploited to make the handover decision, such as the residual resource capacity of network, required resource capacity of UE, receiving signal strength, service type. Eventually, simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce the handovers and unnecessary handovers, thus the network throughput can be improved.
