Abstract:

The detection of subspace signal in compoundGaussian clutter is investigated by the generalized likelihood ratio test and constant false alarm rate detectors. Since the statistical distribution of the test statistics is very complicate, an analytical expression for the detection probability is usually infeasible. Employing a reasonable approximation to the distribution of the test statistics, an approximate close form expression for the detection probability is derived, which will facilitate the analysis and evaluation of detection performance. Finally, using the detection of hovering helicopters as an example, the accuracy of the approximate close form results for the detection probability is verified, and the detection performance with regards to the signal parameters is analyzed.
