Abstract:

The tracking interruption (control failure) probability is the key index of a class of target tracking systems, and a set of exceeding tolerance characteristic (ETC) indices combined by residence time, exceeding tolerance time and random passage period time is proposed to describe the tracking interruption probability. Formulas of the ETC indices on zonal target area are concluded, and the consistency of circular pole index, steady output covariance index and ETC indices is analyzed. When the above indices are consistent, sufficient conditions for the existence of the opportunity awaiting controller are developed, and an iterative algorithm is provided to find a satisfactory control strategy via the bilinear matrix inequality (BMI) approach. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the proposed method.
