Abstract:
The beam pattern of multipleinput multipleoutput(MIMO) radar is derived analytically, which shows that it is the product of transmitter and receiver beam pattern. By assuming that the receiver interelement is halfwavelength spacing, this paper analyzes the interelement spacing of the transmitter, and gets the follow conclusion: when the transmitter interelement is halfwavelength or Mr/2wavelength spacing (Mr is the transmitter elements), the beam pattern of MIMO radar cannot form the high sidelobe. And when the transmitter interelement is between halfwavelength and Mr/2 wavelength spacing, the transmitter will form the grating lobe which leads to the high sidelobe in the beam pattern. Furthermore, in order to suppress the high sidelobe, a new pattern synthesis algorithm is used to cancel the grating lobe, which can suppress the sidelobe efficiently. Simulations verify theoretical analysis.
