Abstract:
The protection by towed-decoys deployed by an aircraft during an engagement against an anti-air missile equipped with a monopulse seeker is evaluated. The research emphasizes the operational parameters required, including the tether length, the direction of release, under different missile incoming directions. According to the basic principle of noncoherent jamming, the operation process with towed decoy jamming is analyzed and modeled. With the reference standard of miss distance, the jamming performances of towed decoy imposing on monopulse seeker under different decoy parameters are investigated. In the end, the protection envelopes for different engagement scenarios are obtained. The evaluation model is very helpful for selecting proper decoy’s parameters in actual battle and engineering.
