Abstract:

For wideband radar, the problem of detecting the range spread target is considered in this paper. A new method based on compressed sensing (CS) measurements is proposed to detect the range spread target in the complex Gaussian noise, which brings the CS concept in the range spread target detection field. The sinc basis is introduced to sparsely represent the high range resolution profile (HRRP). Then the coefficient vector of sparse HRRPs in the sinc basis is solved from CS measurements by complex approximate message passing (CAMP) in the presence of complex Gaussian noise. Finally the l-0 detector is adopted to realize the range spread target detection. Meanwhile both the probability of false alarm and detection is derived. Experimental results based on the raw data from the wideband radar show that the sinc basis can sparsely represent the HRRP very well and that compared with the traditional detectors, the proposed method has a better detection performance of the range spread target.
