Abstract:

Radio frequency simulation system (RFSS) based on the three unit array (TUA) is necessary for the electronics system research and development. The validity of the RFSS testing is determined by the consistency between the electronics system’s response in the RFSS testing and the electronics system’s response in the outfield testing. This paper studies the coupling effects on the RFSS. The effects of the coupling among transmitting units and the coupling among receiving units are analyzed through theoretical analysis and numerical computation. The results show that, if the receiving antenna’s pattern is flat in the TUA region, then the coupling among transmitting units can be ignored; if the coupling parameter among the receiving antennas is constant for the various incident angles, then the coupling among the receiving antennas can be ignored. Based on the parameters used in the computation, the simulation errors caused by coupling of transmitting units and receiving units are less than 1% and 10% of the total simulation error respectively.
