Abstract:

Aiming at improving the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation accuracy of the two-dimensional hybrid multiple input multiple output (MIMO) phased-array radar in low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)environment,an effective solution is proposed based on joint transmit and receive beamspace design. First, the transmit weight vector is designed by semidefinite optimization (SDP) to construct rotational invariance property, realize transmit energy focusing, control the side lobe and form nulls in the interference locations. Then the receive weight vector is designed by minimize variance distortionless response (MVDR) to improve the receive signal to noise plus interference ratio (SINR). Numerical simulations show that our approach can improve DOA estimation accuracy of the two-dimensional hybrid MIMO phased-array radar in low SNR environment.
