Abstract:

Based on sea clutter data collected at ultra high frequency band, temporal correlation properties under different sea conditions are analyzed in both time domain and frequency domain to improve clutter modeling performance and environmental suitability of maritime surveillance radar target detection. The decorrelation time, frequency shift, and spectral width of sea clutter are calculated separately in different sea states and sea directions, and the reference values are listed. The influence of wave height and other sea parameters is compared in detail. The results clearly demonstrate that with increasing sea states, the decorrelation time gets shorter, while the spectral width and frequency shift get larger, especially in the moderate and high sea states. The spectral width in the up-swell direction is larger than which in the cross-swell direction, and the frequency shift trends to be larger along with the gazing angle dcreases.
