Abstract:

To control the spread of cascading failure on complex networks, the betweenness centrality and the degree of the nodes which have important influence on dynamics process of cascading failure are combined, and a node degree and betweenness centrality related edge weighting model is proposed. The proportion coefficient and the weighting parameter to adjust the metric scale on the edge weighting and the heterogenous degree of network respectively are defined, which make the weighting capacities of edges stronger to extra loads from failures. Our simulation results give the values of the proportion coefficient and the weighting parameter when the robustness against cascading failure reaches its ultimate level. The spread of cascading failure is controlled effectively owing to the modified weighting model, which may make sense to enhance the robustness of real-world networks.
