Abstract:

The performance of spectrum sensing could be significantly degraded by users (primary or secondary users) randomly arriving in cognitive radio networks. To overcome the issue, this paper presents a new feedback addition energy detector (FA-ED). The instantaneous energy of the sampling points in the later part of the sensing period is added to the former ones, as a result, the energy statistics of the sensing period has been improved without the need for prolonging the sensing time. In addition, the closed expressions of detection probability, false alarm probability, data collision probability and throughput for FA-ED are derived. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms significantly the existing schemes in detection performances, and also reduces the probability of data collision. Therefore, the throughput of secondary users can be improved.
