Coding capability aware data forwarding mechanism for delay tolerant networks

Abstract:

The efficiency of data transmission can be improved effectively by the network coding method in delay tolerant network (DTN), but it is necessary to choose coding nodes reasonably. A coding capability aware data forwarding mechanism for DTN is proposed. Based on historical information of node movement, the temporal graph is established to model the connection between the nodes. Considering average encounter time interval, shortest length of path, and reachability, the utility value of the node forwarding can be obtained. Furthermore, the coding node can be selected reasonably. Results show that the utilization of network resources can be enhanced, and the network performance can be improved effectively.
