Abstract:

There are two problems for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in a pulse compression radar system. First, before pulse compression, the signal is of lower SNR and the targets cannot be separated in the range domain. Second, after pulse compression, although the targets have been separated by distance and the SNR has been greatly improved, only limited snapshots can be utilized. In order to solve these problems, single-snapshot DOA (SSDOA) estimation methods based on compressed sensing are proposed. Compared with traditional DOA methods, the proposed methods provide higher target resolution and estimation accuracy. In addition, they can estimate coherent signals and do not need the number of targets. The simulation results show that the estimation accuracy and resolution of SSDOA are better than the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) methods. Moreover, the single-snap processing provides a guarantee for realtime system analysis.
