Calibration method for IMU dynamic error based on sinusoidal linear acceleration

Abstract:

Aiming at the difficulty of accurate calibration for inertial measure unit (IMU) dynamic error on the ground, a new calibration method for IMU dynamic error based on sinusoidal linear acceleration experimentation system is proposed. An experimentation system which could supply a sinusoidal linear acceleration environment to meet the IMU test requirements is set up. By using the sinusoidal characteristic of the acceleration supplied by the new system and the periods characteristic of linear reciprocate, combined with IMU output pulse in half positive and minus periods, the IMU dynamic error is calibrated. Experiment results indicate that the IMU dynamic error calibrated by the proposed method has good repetition and consistency, so it provides an effective tool for IMU dynamic error accurate calibration on the ground.
