Abstract:

For clutter suppression encountered in airborne forward-looking planar array radar, a new space-time adaptive processing (STAP) method employing the elevation degrees of freedom (DOF) and the temporal DOF is developed. Clutter distribution in the elevation-Doppler plane is first analyzed. By using the Doppler warping algorithm, the range dependent clutter ridges can be well compensated. Unlike the conventional azimuth-temporal STAP, the proposed method can compensate the mainlobe clutter and the sidelobe clutter simultaneously. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the advantage of the proposed method over the traditional 2D-STAP method and the 3-D STAP method.
