Abstract:

The phase unwrapping is a key step for the processing of interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) and interferometric synthetic aperture sonar (InSAS) data. A blocked phase unwrapping algorithm based on minimum discontinuity is proposed for large interferogram. Firstly, the phase quality map is computed from the interferogram and the wrapped phase is partitioned into high and low quality areas according to its quality map. Then the large interferogram is tessellated into small blocks, and each block is unwrapped by the weighted minimum discontinuity phase unwrapping algorithm simultaneously. Finally, the process of minimum discontinuity optimization is performed among the high and low quality regions of the different unwrapped blocks to get the final unwrapped result, and the blocked phase unwrapping algorithm is parallelized with a parallel programming tool OpenMP. The tests performed on InSAR and InSAS interferogram confirm the accuracy and high efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
