Abstract:

The multi-frequency multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar uses a sparsearray to transmit the frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) signals of multiple carrier frequencies and receives the echoes in array fashion. The signal model of the multi-frequency MIMO radar is analyzed. The synthetic-impulse and aperture processing are deduced, and how the range grating lobes are produced is analyzed. The amplitude of range grating lobes is discussed when bandwidth and frequency interval are different parameters. The methods of range grating lobes suppression based on weights and discrete Fourier transform (DFT) are proposed. The weighting method complets range grating lobes suppression while synthesizing, and the DFT method in pulse compress. The simulation results indicate the validity of the methods.
