Abstract:

A new cross-layer resource allocation scheme based on orthogonal, meanwhile frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems is proposed to maximize overall downlink throughput achieve all kinds of quality of service (QoS) and fairness. The scheme takes the QoS requirements of the media access control (MAC) layer and the large-scale fading characteristics of wireless channels into account, and makes a joint design of both packet scheduling of the MAC layer and resource allocation of the physical layer. Packets are scheduled on the MAC layer according to each user’s time-varying channel capacity, and it is decided that how much channel resource on physical layer should be allocated to a certain user by the user’s queue state information on MAC layer. Simulation results show that this scheme can meet users’ QoS requirements, increases the downlink total throughput of the system and improves the fairness between users with different path losses compared with channel state dependent packet scheduling (CSDPS).
