With the rapid development of mega-constellations, orbital gaming, on-orbit servicing and the advent of the AI era, space intelligent sensing and manipulation has become a cutting-edge research hotspot in the space domain, attracting growing attention from scholars worldwide. Sensing enables the awareness of space dynamics, while manipulation helps fulfill operational objectives; moreover, intelligence serves as the key to improving the timeliness, accuracy and robustness of sensing and manipulation systems.
Space intelligent sensing and manipulation is an interdisciplinary field covering spacecraft design, electronic information, electromechanical control, artificial intelligence and other disciplines, with typical interdisciplinary and systems engineering characteristics. Based on the advantages in large-scale systems and interdisciplinary research of Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics, this special column focuses on frontier topics including collaborative sensing, optimal scheduling and intelligent manipulation. It aims to collect the latest international research achievements in these fields, promote academic exchanges and technological innovation, and facilitate the transformation and application of relevant theories and technologies.
