UAV swarm intelligence technology is a research hotspot and has broad application prospects. Autonomous decision-making and cooperative control are the key technologies to realize swarm intelligence. Autonomous decision-making is an important embodiment of UAV swarm intelligence. Cooperative control is the key factor to determine the success or failure of swarm tasks. The purpose of this special section is to discuss the technical system of swarm autonomous decision-making and the theory and method of collaborative control.
Scope of Topics
This special section invites both review articles and original contributions on the theory and method of autonomous decision-making and collaborative control for unmanned system swarms. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to
1. Overviews of autonomous decision-making, cooperative control and mission planning of unmanned system swarms;
2. Mathematical modeling of autonomous decision-making and cooperative control for unmanned system swarms;
3. Autonomous decision-making framework of unmanned system swarms;
4. Autonomous decision theory and algorithm for unmanned system swarms;
5. Collaborative control theory and algorithm for unmanned system swarms;
6. Theory and algorithm of intelligent mission planning for unmanned system swarms;
7. Theory and method for swarms antagonism game;
8. Simulation and test technology for unmanned system swarms.
Authors should prepare papers according to the format requirements of Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics, with reference to the Guide for Authors given at http://www.jseepub.com and submit the Word version of the complete manuscript through the online submission system. When submitting the paper, the title format should be “Title (Special Section on “Autonomous Decision and Cooperative Control of UAV Swarms”)”.

Prof. Wenwu Yu

Prof. Wenwu Yu received his B.Sc. degree in information and computing science and M.Sc. degree in applied mathematics from the Department of Mathematics, Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China, in 2010. Currently, he is the Founding Director of Laboratory of Cooperative Control of Complex Systems and the Deputy Associate Director of Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Networked Collective Intelligence, an Associate Dean in the School of Mathematics, and a full professor with the Endowed Chair Honor in Southeast University, China. Dr. Yu held several visiting positions in Australia, China, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and the USA. His research interests include multi-agent systems, complex networks and systems, disturbance control, distributed optimization, machine learning, game theory, cyberspace security, smart grids, intelligent transportation systems, big-data analysis, etc. Dr. Yu serves as an Editorial Board Member of several flag journals, including IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, Science China Information Sciences, Science China Technological Sciences, etc. He was listed by Clarivate Analytics/Thomson Reuters as one of the Highly Cited Researchers in Engineering in 2014-2020. He publishes about 100 IEEE Transactions journal papers with more than 18000 citations. Moreover, Dr. Yu is also the recipient of the Second Prize of State Natural Science Award of China in 2016.
Prof. Wei Ren
University of California, Riverside, California, USA
Prof. Wei Ren (F'16) received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University, Provo, UT, USA, in 2004. He is currently a professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of California at Riverside (UC Riverside), Riverside, CA, USA. Prior to joining UC Riverside in 2011, he was a faculty member at Utah State University and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Maryland. He has authored two books entitled Distributed Coordination of Multi-Agent Networks (Springer-Verlag, 2011) and Distributed Consensus in Multi-Vehicle Cooperative Control (Springer-Verlag, 2008). His current research interests include distributed control of multiagent systems and autonomous control of unmanned vehicles. Dr. Ren was a recipient of the IEEE Control Systems Society Antonio Ruberti Young Researcher Prize in 2017 and the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2008. He is currently an Associate Editor of Automatica and Systems and Control Letters.
Prof. Dong Zhang
Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an, China
Prof. Dong Zhang received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Astronautics, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an, China, in 2013. He is currently an associate professor and doctoral supervisor of Northwestern Polytechnical University. He is also a visiting professor of the Key Laboratory of Complex System Control and Intelligent Collaborative Technology. His current research interests include dynamic modeling and control of aerospace vehicles, high-speed aircraft swarms combat mission planning and collaborative guidance and control. He presided over more than 10 national projects, published more than 30 academic papers and one academic monograph and won the second prize of military scientific and technological progress in 2020.
