Weak and small target detection based on multi-level classification and backward temporal-spatial fusion

摘要: 弱小点目标检测是红外探测技术中的一个关键问题.针对目前序列红外图像目标检测中单阈值分割时弱小目标易丢失及快速移动目标的能量欠积累问题,提出了一种基于多级分类与逆向时空融合的弱小红外目标检测方法.该方法在对图像进行背景抑制的基础上,采用自适应多级分类的方法提取候选目标,强化了各类弱小候选目标的检测能力.同时,根据目标在相邻帧间的位置变化信息构造动态时空管道,在当前帧候选目标点的真伪无法判定时,沿时空管道逆向寻找可能出现的各类候选目标,将其中的各类候选目标点能量与当前帧候选目标点的能量进行加权求和后再进行门限判决,较好地解决了弱小目标及快速移动目标的能量积累问题.最后,本文通过若干实际红外数据验证了上述方法的有效性.

Abstract: Weak and small target detection is a crucial problem in infrared imaging technology.But most of the state-of-the-art target detection methods for sequential IR images are using a single threshold for candidate extraction and accumulation schemes for weak energy justifying,this may easily cause the lost of weak and small targets and insufficient accumulation of energy for fast moving targets.Facing the above problems,a new method based on multi-level classification and backward temporal-spatial fusion is proposed.After background suppression,a step using multi-level classification is then adopted in this method for the selection of multi-class candidate targets,which enhances the capability of weak and small targets extraction.Meanwhile,according to the change of the candidate target location in adjacent frames,a kind of temporal-spatial pipeline is constructed dynamically.When candidate targets in the current frame can not be justified,a backward search is carried out for possible existence of any kinds of candidate targets through along these temporal-spatial pipelines,their energy is weighting summed with that of candidate targets in the current frame and justified with a fixed energy threshold.Finally,some experimental and comparison results using real sequential IR images is given to show the effectiveness of the new method.
